Call to Action Poster Final When it came to making these designs for the posters I found this somewhat challenging. Forming the ideas of the poster was simple because of our previous work with making the spreads and photo montages. Out of the 3 made here the first one is the one I enjoy the most. The first one, although a simple background provides a clear answer to the topic of my social issue. I made it so the handcuffs were broken separating the tow text to make it stand out. Of course at the bottom includes the Shutdown Rikers saying to bring back attention to the reader or view. The fonts for the three were the ones I used in the spread assignment being JMH Typewriter. The middle poster is the one I least like due to its simpleness and lack of proper touches to make the topic standout. The reason the hand is red is to represent pain and suffering inside the prison cell. The last poster I want to add at least a face with the hand holding to the bar. The face was going to be half li

         These sketches of 5 shows the poster design related to my social issue. Although my topic is mainly about Rikers, I went for the general topic of prison life and treatment. Out of the 5 created the top 3 of designs are the Top and bottom Left and the middle top. Each of these represent a symbol or object that relates to prison. A few of these being The prison cell, handcuffs and also the rising fist symbol. To try to make them relate to Rikers I may include at the bottom of my final poster "SHUTDOWN RIKERS" bring back more awareness of my topic.

This work can impact my own spread as I can make a simple prison cell or people protesting outside of a cell to show a call of action. The reason she include this poster is because we as people have a set idea of an image or design we can reference to. In this case this target the main protagonist in the series, Homer Simpson with his M shape hair on his side. Doing a basic idea of a big problem can help people understand the issue at hand.    WW2 propaganda is a poster design that I love as it gets straight to the point and show the unnecessary dangers people and soldiers go through to fight.  6-5, 7-1, 7-2 social justice spreads reflection      Since the start of the 3 fall semester we have start to prepare and create our own Social Topic Issue spreads. These spreads combined everything we have learn throughout the years of graphic design and its different application like InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. My social topic original was about Riker Island. Rikers Island has had multiple incidents and death throughout its year open. This in itself was a inhuman torcher for prisoner that resided in the prison. As a result this has lead to multiple protest throughout New York that pushed for the need to close Rikers Down permanently. Data Visualization at the Designing Peace Exhibition What is the goal of data visualization? Pick one exhibit and describe how it uses imagery to make its point? How can you use your skills in graphic design to visualize your data? How will you improve/revise your initial data visualization rough? Within the Designing Peace exhibition there are tons of different pictures and designs that show data from different ideas and concepts.  The goal of data visualization is to tell a story. When it comes to data being shown through graphs, pie charts or  histograms they tend to only show the information in a basic and boring way that it doesn't really spread the story of what the data is representing. With the use of data visualization it makes it easier for the reader and anyone walking to interpret the data when its presented in a colorful or attracting way.
